Traffic in Cebu is bad. And the driving habits of some residents here are actually making it worse than it has to be. If you think this is going to get better soon, then I have bad news for you. Traffic in Cebu will not improve one bit as long as the Cebu Police is the one giving the worst examples.
If you drive a motorcycle, then you probably know that you should wear a helmet and drive carefully, right? Sometimes you might even do this. What do you think, is he just too lazy to wear it and give a good example to others? Or is he too stupid to know how to wear the helmet while driving a motorcycle? Maybe he thinks he is not so gwapo anymore if he has to remove his basecap? I dont know.
What you don’t see is the way he was driving on his bike. Swerving left and right, overtaking cars on both sides and speeding like crazy. He is in the police-force for god’s sake. Is he not thinking at all? Does he know that he is representing Cebu and that he is creating a not so good image of the city while he is working like that?
Is it the mayor of Cebu, Mr. Thomas Osmena, who is responsible for the police? Or should the LTO take care of this? Or someone else? I hope the right person will see this and maybe implement some additional training for the police. As you probably know this Barangay Police guy is not alone, at least some of his colleagues show the same behavior, unfortunately. So stop dreaming about the traffic problem of Cebu getting better, it is not happening…
