THE SLUMS OF CEBU CITY (MIRACLES IN MACTAN) – Cebu Video

These are the slums of Mactan, also known as Lapu Lapu. These homes are illegally set up only a few minutes away from the Cebu City airport and inhabited by hundreds of thousands of people. YWAM is a Christian organization that is bringing God to these oppressed communities. I am so glad Laura and I could witness it first hand.

This is not my typical kind of vlog so I hope you guys stay open minded and I highly encourage discussion, but if you’re going to blast ignorance/hate, please keep it to yourself.

  1. I don't really support the indoctrination of children but I guess it's something for them to focus on that's relatively positive. Meh, religion as a whole is pretty destructive to societies. At one point it created value. Nowadays it's just another tool for separation and segregation of consciousness which is ultimately based on science and the universe. The notion that man on a living in a singular galaxy that he barely understands, created another man that created it all, is just unrealistic. The vastness of the universe makes a man made god a pretty silly idea when you consider the true scope of it all.

  9. As part of your travel theme, it is great that you showed the side of the Philippines that comprises 25 to 30% of the population.

As to the religious stuff, best to keep this a one off.

Looking forward to travel stuff again and stuff in your lives.

I'm sure this comment won't make me a fan of the day. Lol.

  10. I admire you posting this vlog because it is a controversial topic. It would have been really easy for you and Laura to experience this day and not post about it, but you did. I think it's important too because it's easy for people to watch travel vlogs and see all the amazing beauty, but viewers may not realize what life looks like outside of those sites and tourist areas. It can be very shocking and feel a bit defeating even when you know it exists and if you've seen it before.

  11. Great vlog, I'm not religious at all. But the work they are doing is brilliant, they are helping to turn people's lives around. Even if you're not religious, you can't deny that what they are doing is changing the world for the better. By the way, love your channel mate, keep up the good work.

  15. I love your vlogs but I have to say that religious BS is little too much. What makes you better people to go abroad and tell other cultures how to live and what to believe?? You are brainwashing them whit YOUR believings. WTF? Tell poor people who don't have change for proper education bed time stories… Please stop that shit immediately, that's last what them need, talks from miracles from the Lord… OMG. Why don't ever see you kind of people to try this BS for Western people, people who have proper education and knowledge history of mankind. People who have means to find the information by they own. People living in slums and "third" country makes easy target for your BS. Sad, sad, sad situation.

  18. This is such a nice video! Although the one with necklace thing selling stuff is not actually Catholic thing(I am Catholic btw) but it actually is part of the Filipino Tribal culture(not sure what to call it) even before the Philippines was Christianized by the spaniards and yes people believe in them even if they were taught not too… Anyway its a great blog! We need more of these kind of works right here. Also I guess slums is the right word because here in the Philippines poor is a subjective term like we can be poor materially but not spiritually, and people actually think like that. Kuddos and more blessings to you and to those people who helpeds and have been helped in this video!(I hope I can also do missionary works like this one day too.)

  20. This vlog is going to be controversial and divisive. Christian knows that. Let's have an intelligent discussion/debate. Personally, I watch vlogs mostly to be entertained. But I'm willing to learn something new. And I welcome this change…. once in a while

  21. I'm not surprise everytime I see a religious related video here in YouTube in the comments. There is always a smell of negativity. Can we just respect each other's beliefs?

BTW Christian hope you had a good night and God Bless you!

  23. I really love your vlogs but this one was just way to much. For you it probably is not but remember that many of your viewers are not religious, does not belive in god or cares about it.(leave it out) Sad to see how they abuse those poor people to become a larger religion.

  24. Here's the thing Christian. You have gained a ton of new subscribers recently who come to watch you travel and party and enjoy life. You suddenly surprised them with your faith and belief and people are turned off. Perhaps you should have talked about your faith and its importance more regularly in your videos. Whatever you do, do not stop posting these types of videos just because the audience doesn't like to watch it. It's who you are. Stay strong bro.

  25. I agree with what most of you guys are saying that it's not good to take advantage of other's misery to spread religion. But in the case of the Filipinos majority of our population are Catholics so most of the people that Christian spoke to are already believers of Christianity. So it's not a case that Christian is trying to convert them to their religion.

  29. Thank you for using your vlog for this purpose of sharing the words of God. Please send my reards to YWAM for letting these people knew who God is and be saved. For me, being a catholic, I was saddened to hear about the necklace that was sold near to a church. But it is a common mix up between local culture and the church.

  35. Why don't YWAM help build a school for those people that are less fortunate or get them in a school so that they can get a better education and with that education they can find a job and move out of the slum.

  39. I'm sorry, but giving people bible books and convice them to join christainty and belive in Jesus isn't about helping people, its about convicing them so they will belive in christanity, those people are just using the fact that those people are poor and have no hope and no way to get knowalge to convice them to belive in your lord, jizz this is realy unnecessary, its not helping them in any way, instead of donating those people what they need, they are giving them bible, I'm sorry but if you wanted to help them you would give them the water and food, not a bible.
